It’s usually not a good sign for an expansion team if 22 years in, their most successful period of time was in the first five years of their existence.

From 1995 (Their first ever season) to 1999, the team made the playoffs four out of five seasons and actually won four total playoff games in that time. Since then, they have made the playoffs twice in 17 seasons, winning one game, in 2007. They are now in a 9-year playoff drought and with Blake Bortles’ performance in the preseason, fans are already beginning to jump ship on their quarterback.

In fact, one fan went as far as creating a custom jersey with Colin Kaepernick’s name on the back. Now, this could be meant as support for Kaepernick’s cause, or it could just be this guy’s version of a vision board – “if you buy this, they will sign him”.

Either way, fans are hopping on the latter of those two sentiments.

Last year, of Quarterbacks with at least 200 pass attempts, Bortles ranked 27th in the league in passer rating, but he really hasn’t had much help. He also outperformed Kaepernick when they were both in the league in 2015, but both could probably benefit from the competition. We’re just not sure it’s wise to give up on a quarterback selected third overall so quickly.

His preseason hasn’t been good, but when did we start putting so much value on preseason numbers.
