Joe Thornton is on the verge of a historic career milestone as he is one point away from tying Jari Kurri for 20th on the all-time points list and two points away from surpassing him.

Monday night, though, the hockey world thought he moved into a tie with Kurri thanks to a two assist outing against the Rangers.  The next morning, however, one of his assists was changed/removed, so entering Thursday night's game against his former team (the Boston Bruins), he'll be one point shy of tying Kurri.

Before the assist was taken away from Jumbo Joe, Alex Prewitt of Sports Illustrated notified him of the career milestone and Thornton reacted in a legendary way.

Obviously he still hasn't reached the milestone, but that's not important.  What's important was his incredible reaction to such an incredible milestone (which could be official as soon as Thursday).

The 38-year-old and future Hall of Famer has been producing at a high level since the late 90s, which is amazing in itself.  We just hope this isn't his last season in the NHL so he can try and climb into the top 15 on the all-time points list.
