Joey Votto is a character.

The Canadian baseball player has been known to get up to some antics on the field and even interact with fans on occasion. He’s been veteran in the league for a long time, so he’s just about seen it all, but you wouldn’t believe that watching this clip.

Votto takes on a curveball from Hyun-Jin Ryu and he reacts as if he’s never seen a breaking ball in his life.

We’re not sure if he was upset that the pitch was called a strike, but as you can see on the pitch f/x in the video, it was definitely in the zone.

We’re sure he’ll get over it, because he’s seeing the ball better than ever this season.

Votto is on pace to finish another season with an OBP above .400 and is on pace to hit over 40 home runs for the first time in his career. Whatever he’s doing, it’s working.

Tops in the NL in homers? Definitely #ASGWorthy. #VoteVotto #VoteReds ☑️: reds.com/vote
