If you look at the Central Division standings, the Chicago Blackhawks are in first place entering play Tuesday night, and that shouldn't surprise anyone considering the dynasty they've built.

What is surprising, however, is the fact that they're in first place in the Central despite a down statistical season thus far from their captain Jonathan Toews.

In 34 games, Toews has 20 points and is a plus 1.  He's missed games this season due to injury, and yet, the Blackhawks have kept rolling thanks to the contributions from guys like Artemi Panarin and Marian Hossa.

Tuesday, the NHL All-Star rosters were revealed and Toews was selected once again, but, as per the Chicago Sun-Times, he's not really sure how he managed to be named an All-Star:

“I definitely think Bread Man, Arty and Hoss should be there,” Toews said referring to Artemi Panarin, Marian Hossa and Artem Anisimov. “They’re at the top of the leaderboard in scoring and they’ve been carrying this team offensively, too. They’ve been playing so well. I guess you can only pick so many guys. I happened to sneak in there somehow. Not sure how.”

Honesty and humbleness from Toews.  What else would you expect?

We agree with him that he probably isn't the most deserving Hawk to be named an All-Star this season, but he's one of the best players in hockey and has been since he entered the league, making it somewhat easier to understand why he's an All-Star again.

“That’s the only thing I can really think of,” Toews told the Sun-Times. “I guess it’s related to how I’ve played in previous seasons, not necessarily this one. And not necessarily who’s doing the best on our team this year. If it came down to that, we’d have a couple other guys representing us instead of myself,” he said.

There's still a lot of games left to be played between now and All-Star weekend, so Toews still has some time to go on a rampage to prove he's "deserving" of being named an All-Star.

Even if he doesn't, though, we don't have a problem with him being named an All-Star and we look forward to seeing him enjoy the festivities.
