Josh Ho-Sang’s NHL career didn’t get off to the start that he was hoping for.

After being selected 28th overall by the New York Islanders in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Ho-Sang was sent back to the OHL almost immediately after he was late for his very first day of Islanders training camp.

This past season, the 21-year-old was the centre of attention yet again after he chose No. 66 as his NHL number.

Do you think 66 is off limits?

Ho-Sang’s decision angered just about everyone except for Mario Lemieux, the man who made the No. 66 famous.

"I'm fine with it, it's just a number. Number 4 and number 9 were worn by great players (Bobby Orr and Gordie Howe, respectively), and they are not retired forever. Players can choose whatever number they want," Mario Lemieux told the Post Gazette.

A lot of people do dumb things when they’re younger, but most of them end up learning from their mistakes. It appears that Ho-Sang is someone who’s learned a lot from his past mistakes and is working hard to change the way the rest of the league portrays him.

On Thursday, the Islanders hosted a Blue and White scrimmage at the Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow, New York, and the players stuck around after the game to meet the fans and sign some autographs. During the meet and greet, Ho-Sang met a young Islanders fan who wanted their Ho-Sang jersey autographed and the two ended up having an adorable conversation.

The two got really into their conversation, especially once it switched over to hairdos. As for Ho-Sang, he’s probably going to remember this moment just as much as the young fan will.
