Kevin Pillar has been on an absolute tear for the Blue Jays. A player normally known for his defence has done it all in the Jays five-game winning streak.

Yesterday his current stretch peaked as he crushed a bottom-of-the-ninth, walk-off home run to give the Blue Jays a 3-2 win over the Mariners, officially reaching the same 38-game record that they had two years ago (So much for their slow start).

Of course, as is the custom in baseball, when he was finished rounding the bases, his teammates were waiting for him at home plate. They were all going crazy, and usually in these celebrations, jerseys don’t fare too well. Pillar knew that coming into home and had to escape in order to keep a promise he made to his mother.

Aww. That’s adorable. Even in one of his greatest moments as a major league player (It was his first ever walk-off homer), he was just thinking about his mom.

We’re still waiting to see that picture from Pillar and his mother, but he did send out a special message to all moms before the game.
