The 2017-18 KHL season is only a few days but the league has already provided a ton of highlights in such a short period of time.

Avangard Omsk and Dinamo Riga opened up the season against each other on Tuesday night and the game featured just about anything and everything. From big hits to a player blocking a shot with his face to highlight reel goals, fans were treated to a great show.

The biggest highlight of the night came courtesy of Valentin Pyanov, who ripped his first goal of the season off a faceoff.

Not only did he manage to fool everyone and score from the faceoff circle, but he managed to rip the shot top shelf, too.

To make it even better, Pyanov’s goal ended up being the game-winning goal as Avangard went on to defeat Dinamo R 3-1 to open the season on a high note.
