Ahhh yes, the classic participation trophy debate. No matter where you stand on the topic, we think that you would agree that if you had to compile a list of athletes that would absolutely detest the idea of participation trophies, Kobe Bryant would be high on that list.

During an interview on Friday, Bryant provided his thoughts on the matter, and honestly, his opinion may surprise you a little.

The surprising part definitely has to be the idea of Kobe welcoming participation trophies into his home. The unsurprising part is that one of the greatest competitors in NBA history offered sage advice on how young athletes should both motivate themselves, and how to deal with wins as well as losses. Bryant further detailed his point on Twitter.

We're just going to go out and say it. Post-retirement Kobe Bryant has been an absolute social media juggernaut. When a man with 5 NBA titles tells you to keep that participation trophy in your room for motivation, you keep it there for motivation. That is unless you think James Harrison may be inspecting your room in the near future. In that case, you hide those somewhere out of sight.
