Joey Votto is ruthless. People are joking that he might not even be Canadian for how non apologetic he is with his chirps.

For years he’s been giving it back to fans who deserve it and even the ones who don’t. Last year, we saw him teasing fans who wanted his batting gloves and even ripping fans who interfered with him catching a ball. But let’s be honest, this guy totally deserved it.

Now, he’s at it again, with more people who totally deserve it.

Votto was warming up next the front row, and someone starts chirping him. He does not back down, and has a hilarious back and forth with the hecklers. Joey Votto could be the greatest Canadian baseball player ever, but he doesn’t have the typical Canadian apologetic demeanor.

Ruthless.

The weird thing is, the guy saying “I remember when you used to be good” isn’t even making sense. Votto had 7.5 & 5.0 WAR seasons the last two years, and has been tearing the cover off the ball this year (12 home runs, .293/.412/.592).

Of course, Votto then goes for the low blow, taking a shot at the guy’s weight, but he doesn’t stop there. He later says that they “Don’t even have a life”. He’s right that he has a lot more to lose than these people and it just shows how aware athletes need to be when their interacting with the fans.

We’re sure Canadian fans would love to have those wits on Canada’s team in the Blue Jays.
