No parent has been more vocal about their son’s athletics recently than UCLA standout point guard Lonzo Ball’s father, Lavar.

After boldly expressing his claim that Lonzo is already better than two-time MVP point guard Steph Curry, Mr. Ball revealed that his son “will only play for the Lakers.”

LaVar tried clarifying his comment , saying that he didn’t mean the Lakers would be the only team his son would play for.

The following is an excerpt from TSN:

“All I said was that my boy is going to play for the Lakers, and I’m going to speak it into existence,” LaVar Ball told ESPN on Saturday night. “I want him to be a Laker, but I wasn’t saying he’s only going to play for the Lakers…

“I’m not trying to say he won’t play for a different team,” he said. “But I’d like him to play for the Lakers because it’s home, and I’d love him to learn from Magic [Johnson]. He’s the best guard ever to me, and nobody better for Lonzo to learn from than Magic Johnson.”

Lonzo was born in Anaheim California, so it’s not surprising that LaVar wants to keep his son close to home. These statements are getting a bit out of hand though, and perhaps LaVar should consider being a bit more low-key with his comments in the future.
