Over the years, Pittsburgh Penguins stars Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby have gradually become close friends.

Best friends

Aside from international play, the two only know one another as teammates, which has obviously worked out based on their track record together. Both have been key pieces in helping lead the Penguins to three Stanley Cups since 2009.

Malkin was recently asked about Crosby’s work ethic, and the Russian didn’t hold back on his thoughts about the captain.

Real recognizes real.

It’s interesting to get such a personal opinion on ‘The Kid’ from a fellow player who is so closely associated with him. It doesn’t come as a surprise by any means, but his work ethic has clearly been the root of his success.

There’s no denying that Crosby was born with more skill than most, but it’s silly to think that he hasn’t worked to develop it over the years. The two will look to become the first team since the Islanders of the early 80’s to win back-to-back-to back championships.
