The Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics have been rivals for quite some time. The A’s have gotten the best of the Mariners over the years, with a 334-270 overall record dating all the way back to 1977.

With the MLB regular season right around the corner, teams, players and fans are beyond excited for the season to get underway. On Wednesday, the Mariners tweeted out a promo that shows how excited they are for baseball to return so they can watch Felix Hernandez on the mound.

We’re guessing the Athletics were not too pleased with the final clip that shows one of their players striking out, so they fired some shots on Twitter.

The Mariners didn’t really come up with anything original for their comeback, as they replied with the same clip.

Clearly the A’s were just getting started, as they came out firing on all cylinders after that response.

The Mariners comeback was a little better this time, especially since they slipped some Smash Mouth lyrics in their response.

But the Athletics were not going down without a fight.

The two teams will get their first chance to settle this on the diamond on Thursday, April 20, when the Mariners pay a visit to Oakland for a four-game series.
