Seattle Mariners 23-year-old prospect Nick Zammarelli must be very grateful for batting helmets after a recent incident in a Midwest League Class A game.

In the bottom of the third inning, Zammarelli barely connected on a pitch and ended up sending the ball up into the air for a foul ball. However, this was not your ordinary foul ball.

Before Zammarelli even had a chance to leave the batter’s box, the ball he had just sent into foul territory ended up hitting the stadium’s roof and it came racing back down only to hit him on the head.

The Mariners prospect was not hurt on the play, but he did end up striking out during the at-bat.

It’s a good thing he kept his helmet on and didn’t take it off to re-adjust it like some players tend to do during at-bats.
