Wednesday night, the Flames had a chance to clinch a playoff berth if they could beat the Kings.

There was a much larger storyline, though, that started to play out well before the opening faceoff.

On March 19th, Matthew Tkachuk elbowed Drew Doughty and was suspended for two games.

The two exchanged comments after the incident and they actually called each other out.

The game Wednesday night was a physical affair to say the least as Tkachuk was hitting everyone in sight, including Doughty, and he even dropped the gloves.

Calgary, however, failed to clinch a playoff berth as they lost 4-1, and after the game, Tkachuk was asked about the physical affair.

It's quite clear that the rookie just wants to move on, but that will be hard considering the two teams play again on April 6th.

With the Kings pretty much out of the playoff race, emotions have the potential to boil over in that final meeting of the season.

Flames fans hope by that time their team will already have clinched a playoff berth.
