The Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather showdown is inching closer and closer to actually happening.

In an article with the LA Times, McGregor revealed that he plans on squaring off with Mayweather following the summer.

The following is an excerpt from the LA Times:

“September is what I’m thinking. That’s what the word is. That’s what we’re close to doing.”

McGregor would enter the contest as the underdog, as Mayweather is the more experienced boxer. But would you really put it past the UFC star to come out on top? He certainly isn’t lacking any sort of confidence.

The Irish star also appears to have started trraining for the big event.

Other fighters, including Roy Jones Jr. and Anderson Silva have stated they want to co-headline the event to undoubtably make it the biggest of all time (if it isn't going to be already without them).

If a deal can be reached, this will be one of the most highly anticipated fights in the history of the sport.
