Esports continue to grow on a daily basis and more and more NBA owners, personalities and teams are buying into the scene. Rick Fox, Shaquille O’Neal and Magic Johnson are just some of the former players who have invested in esports, while the Philadelphia 76ers, Sacramento Kings and Milwaukee Bucks all have partnerships with esports organizations.

On Tuesday, the Miami Heat joined in on the fun and announced they officially invested in an epsorts franchise of their own, Misfits.

The Heat’s staff will handle all the marketing and sponsorship for the organization, as well as cross promote the two brands moving forward.

It’s only a matter of time until another NBA franchise joins in on the fun. Based on how well Northern Arena did in Toronto last year, perhaps the Raptors will also invest in a team in the near future.
