Denis Shapovalov has had some bright moments in his young tennis career thus far, but none of them compared to what he accomplished on Thursday night at the Rogers Cup.

The 18-year-old Canadian upset the top seed in the tournament, Rafael Nadal, and picked up the biggest win of his career on home soil.

After the match, Nadal was asked by a reporter to draw some comparisons between himself and Shapovalov in regards to the fact that he just beat a legend and Nadal did the same when he was a teenager.

Nadal didn't make a comparison, but he did have some high praise for the Canadian nonetheless.

Nadal said he has everything to become a great player, and we imagine he doesn't just say that about every opponent who happens to beat him.

Now it's up to Shapovalov to cash in on that potential and continue to work hard, improve his game and rise up in the ranks, which he did with the win.
