Dillon Simpson, son of former NHL player Craig Simpson, was selected 92nd overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. On Thursday night in Philadelphia, the 23-year-old Edmonton, Alberta native made his NHL debut for his hometown team, and his teammates made sure it's a night to remember right from the get go.

It didn't take the youngster very long to notice that the rest of his teammates didn't take the ice with him, so he decided to make a stop at the bench and let the rest of the guys hit the ice before he went around for another lap.

This seems to be the new trend for NHL rookies, as we have seen it happen many times before.
