It feels like last summer all over again with everyone comparing Auston Matthews and Patrik Laine.

The two youngsters put forth beyond impressive rookie campaigns this past season and both made very convincing cases as to why they deserved the 2016-17 Calder Trophy.

However, only one person can walk away victorious and it was Toronto Maple Leafs’ Auston Matthews.

For Leaf fans, this was pretty much a no-brainer, as Matthews scored 40 goals and put up 69 points in 82 games to help lead the Toronto Maple Leafs back to the postseason since the 2012-13 season.

Although Matthews came out victorious for top rookie of the year, Patrik Laine stole the show with his incredible mustache.
 

Laine didn’t win the Calder Trophy, but he ended up stealing the show anyways.
