While former Pittsburgh Penguins star Chris Kunitz is no longer a member of the team, signing a one-year, $2 million deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning; he still gets to celebrate as a member of the Pens’ Stanley Cup winning team this summer.

Kunitz and his family had their day with the Cup on Monday, and kept things low-key and wholesome, celebrating at their home in Pittsburgh. Of course, it’s not the first time the left winger has hoisted the trophy, winning the Cup with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007, and the Pens in 2009 and 2016 prior to this championship.

Since Kunitz has already had three days with the cup just like this visit, it allows him to keep a lower profile this time around, and have a family day with the trophy.

First it was breakfast with the cup, and then Kunitz and his three children held the Stanley Cup (and replica Cups) to represent all the Cups he’s won so far in his career.

After being a part of three Stanley Cup championships with the Penguins, Pens’ fans loved seeing Kunitz enjoy his day with the trophy, but were feeling bittersweet about him leaving the team for Tampa Bay.

After three Stanley Cups with a team, it’s fair to say Kunitz will forever be a Penguin in his heart, and to Pens’ fans everywhere.
