It’s still hard to believe that the world lost Muhammad Ali last summer. It didn’t matter if you were a boxing fan or not, Ali touched many lives throughout his lifetime and was an athlete who was bigger than sports.

This summer, the Cincinnati Reds’ Triple-A affiliate Louisville Bats will honour Ali on the one-year anniversary of his death by hosting Muhammad Ali Appreciation Night.

The team will pay tribute to The Greatest with many tributes and events throughout the stadium which will highlight Ali’s “Six Core Principles” – confidence, conviction, dedication, respect, giving and spirituality. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a hat that commemorates Muhammad Ali.

As great as all of these things will be, the best part of the night will be the uniforms that the team will wear.

Ali was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, so the city will also be doing something special for The People’s Champion by hosting the “I Am Festival”. It was originally supposed to be a ten-day event, but was recently expanded to six weeks due to an increase in community interest in the event.
