Refereeing can be a difficult job, especially in men’s league.
A lot of the time the refs can be younger than the guys that they’re trying to control and when the games get out of control, there’s not a lot you can do. That has never been more clear than in this video, where the referee has totally given up on the game as two players jaw back and forth. (H/T @RonTextAll for sending through the video)
He’s basically just hoping that the players get annoyed enough by his whistle that they stop what they’re doing, and it actually looks like it’s kind of working by the end of the video. So, maybe he’s like Phil Kessel. Even when he looks like he might not be giving it all on the ice, he just plays the game more efficiently than others.
Unlike Brad Watson who was caught not paying attention in a recent game in the NHL.
