Blue Jays fans are a sensitive bunch right now.

After basically replacing Edwin Encarnacion with Kendrys Morales in the offseason, playoff hopes were still high entering the year, but things got off to a terrible start. The team started 3-12 and many people were struggling to find reasons to stay optimistic about the team.

On top of that, the Blue Jays are missing their best pitcher and hitter, who are both on the DL.

That hitter, Josh Donaldson, is also a stellar third basemen, so they’ve been missing him on the hot corner too. Blue Jays fans are missing him even more now that Russell Martin is filling in for him at third base.

Russell #Martin will start at third base for the #BlueJays tonight.

Blue Jays fans are panicking, but it’s not the first time he’s played the position. He's started 10 games at the position over the course of his career, but never before with the Blue Jays. Heck, even some metrics show him as a positive impact at the position (Although there is no reason to use such a small sample as any actual indicator of how he'll perform.
