Not many people expected the Ottawa Senators to hold their own without captain Erik Karlsson in the lineup to start the season, but the team has managed to do just fine without him.

On Monday morning, the team received some more good news as it looks like Erik Karlsson is set to make his season debut on Tuesday night after taking the ice in a regular red practice jersey.

The Sens own a 3-0-2 record with 20 goals for and 10 against through their first five games, and are currently on a three-game winning streak thanks to their sweep during their recent Western Canadian road trip. Now that they’re getting another boost to their lineup with Karlsson set to return, you can bet Sens fans are rejoicing now that he’s officially ready to go.

The two-time Norris Trophy winner has proven over the course of his career that he can get the job done on both sides of the rink with 117 goals and 339 assists for 456 points in 556 career games and is returning much sooner than everyone expected after he had part of his ankle removed during surgery.
