Hockey, like any other sport, can get violent in a hurry if one player losses his or her temper.

Obviously it's sometimes difficult to control your temper while playing such a competitive sport, but keeping your emotions in check rather than letting them get the best of you is best for everyone else playing, too.

Unfortunately for RenĂ©-Dave Pelchat, his opponent, Louis-Philippe Carrier, couldn't keep his emotions in check during a Quebec Senior league game, which resulted in Carrier violently slashing Pelchat in the head.

According to the league (LHBBF), Carrier has a minimum three game suspension coming his way:

The chief referee called a penalty for a stick-kick which systematically entails a three-game suspension.

The LHBBF discipline committee will investigate the seriousness of the gesture and assess the possibility of imposing an additional suspension on the hockey player.

As per the LHBBF, Pelchat actually stayed in the game and scored the game-tying goal to send it to overtime where his team would eventually lose 7-6.

The series between the Justiciers of Saint-Joseph and the Bellechasse Spikes is now tied 1-1.

As for Pelchat, he told the Le Journal De Quebec that he played the rest of the game despite fearing he might have suffered a concussion from the slash and he has not filed a complaint with the police as of this moment.

Le Journal De Quebec also reached out to Carrier, and he had this to say about the incident:

"Certainly it is a gesture that I condemn and that I regret very much. Indeed, it does not represent the kind of player and person I am, not at all"
