Despite putting in work during the offseason, athletes can get off to a slow start once the regular season rolls around.

Sometimes it takes them a few games to get their feet back or to get back into game mode, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby.

The three-time Stanley Cup champion has been putting in work back home in Halifax over the summer and he looks like he’s already in mid-season form.

Crosby has spent a majority of his summer skating with other NHL and AHL players in order to keep any offseason rust away, despite just going through one of the longest years of hockey in his career.

Last week, Evgeni Malkin shared his thoughts on why Crosby has been and continues to be so successful in the NHL and he hit the nail on the head.

Most people would probably take the summer off after capturing a gold medal with Canada at the World Cup of Hockey and winning back-to-back Stanley Cup championships within 365 days, but that’s clearly not the case for Crosby.

Can #SidneyCrosby and the #Penguins pull it off again next season? 🤔
