The toothless smile has become somewhat of a popular trend in hockey over the years.

It's like a badge of honour players wear with (or without) them to signify the battles they've been in and how tough you really have to be to be a professional hockey player.

Having a toothless smile, whether it be for one game before getting repairs, or the rest of your career, puts players in a unique fraternity, and Tuesday night,

Sidney Crosby joined the toothless smile club once again after getting high-sticked against the Sabres.

It's no Brent Burns smile, but it's better than nothing.

This isn't the first time Crosby's had a toothless smile before.  In 2013 he got a puck to the face against the Islanders and lost some teeth.

Fans who like Crosby with a few teeth missing shouldn't get used to it, though.

We'll always have the pictures, though, and that's good enough for us.
