Although hockey has become a much faster and finesse filled game in recent years, there are still massive hits and the occasion fights that bring the fans to their feet.
Bringing the fans to their feet is exactly what this defender, Nick Schneider of the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs, was thinking Friday night as he lined up his opponent for what could have been a devastating hip-check.
Unfortunately for Schneider, Josh Cousineau of the Pensacola Ice Flyers had other plans as he somehow avoided the hit en route to an insane goal.
We're not sure what's more insane about the goal, the fact that Cousineau avoided the hit or the fact that he had the presence of mind to recover the puck and finish the play off.
The 27-year-old has nine goals this season, but we imagine none have been close to as good as this one.
