The 2017 NBA Awards took place Monday in New York City, and as most assumed, Oklahoma City Thunder star Russell Westbrook took home the 2017 NBA MVP Award. The triple-double machine took out a piece of paper on stage after winning the award, and began thanking a plethora of people listed. He thanked his teammates, he thanked the coaches, he thanked the trainers, and he thanked his family members… but there was one person he forgot to thank. The person who taught him how to play basketball, Taylor Swift.

Of course, Swift didn’t actually teach Westbrook how to play basketball, but he’s posted video to Instagram singing her songs in his car, and even posted a video at one of her concerts once.

Swift congratulated Russ on an impressive season, and let him know he deserved the MVP.

It turns out they’ve never met, but we’re sure Brodie will be stoked about the congratulations from Swift. He does appear to be a big fan…
