Claire Jeffress has become a household name around Dawson High School in the state of Texas.

The high school senior was named the homecoming queen last week. She also plays on the high school’s soccer team, and her soccer skills have transferred into another form of football: Jeffress is the kicker on the high school’s football team, and she’s converting at a pretty impressive rate. Two weeks back, she hit 25-yard PAT to seal a 14-13 win

On Friday night, Jeffress was back at it again, this time sinking a game-winning field goal with 1:08 remaining from 30-yards out to beat the school’s top rival for a 38-35 victory.

"I didn’t want to make the team because I was a girl. I didn’t want it to be some special factor,” Jeffress explained to TMC News. “I wanted to make it because I deserved to be on the team. They understood that.”

The Pearland, Texas product converted 5-5 on PAT’s and helped Dawson improve their record to 5-1. Texas is a football hotbed, and it’s not only impressive to see the impact that Claire has been on the team, but also seeing her becoming entrusted and devloping into a crucial component of the club with how their games have gone right down to the wire.

“I just wanted to do what I’ve always done and not think of it as any big deal, Jeffress said to The Houston Chronicle. “My team had faith in me, and they were going to block for me, and the snap and the hold were going to be good, so I just had to do my job.”

A job well done, Claire.
