Beltran's glove may now be buried in the outfield at Minute Maid Park, but something tells us that the outfielder will get to use it a few more times before his time in Houston is all said and done. And when he does eventually play in the outfield again, you can expect Beltran to get a mighty cheer from the stands.Houston Astros centrefielder Carlos Beltran has won three Gold Gloves in his career, but it's been quite some time since the 40-year old vet has been considered an above average fielder. As he continues to age, Beltran has seen less and less time in the Astros' outfield, and so finally the team decided it was time to lay the nine-time All-Star's glove to rest, holding a fake memorial service on Monday night.

MLB.com's Brian McTaggart snapped an image of the event on Monday, later reporting that Beltran's teammates George Springer and Brian McCann lead the service.

McCann, donned in a robe, reportedly shared a few words before Beltran's glove was finally laid to rest. Speaking with McTaggart, Beltran discussed the service and how it was all in good fun.

"They're just having fun with it," said Beltran. "I don't know if [his glove] is retired or not. I bring my glove every day to practice."

"I have fun with them, they have fun with me. That's what a team should be. They made me laugh. That's huge."
