Ever since the explosion in popularity of EA Sports' Ultimate Team modes, the development of single player career modes has seemingly taken a back seat.

Last year, EA Sports introduced a few changes to the FIFA franchise's Manager mode which were mostly cosmetic, but also included an all-new board expectations system. The changes added value, but it was far from being the revamp that fans of the mode have been waiting for. From everything we've heard so far, FIFA 18's Manager mode hasn't been overhauled, but it will include a change that is most welcome. A change in the transfer market system.

Transfer market dealings account for about 30% (rough, estimated, unproven figure) of the gameplay in Manager mode, if not more, depending on how you chose to play. After all, the best part of any sports title's career mode is building a team. In a recent vlog diary, YouTuber Chesnoid Gaming ran through the alterations to FIFA 18's Manager mode, including the addition of cutscenes and dialogs during transfer negotiations.

There's quite a bit to unpack there, all of which we're interested in. The first question that popped into our mind was, as cool as the cutscenes are, can they be skipped? It's doubtful you will want to go through that system for the 16th time when you're purchasing a backup wingback. Perhaps that's what the delegation option is for? Our next thought was on the release clauses. Does every player have one? And if so, is that automatically the price evaluation that has to be met if you're looking to buy a player who may not necessarily be for sale.

The biggest improvement, aside from the new presentation, definitely has to be the fact that you no longer have to advance days to do transfers. We're totally fine with throuwing realism out the window in favour of expediting the process.

We cannot wait to get our hands on FIFA 18. Check back later this month for our full review!
