There are going to be a lot of firsts for the Golden Knights this season, and this one will help people realize how soon the hockey season will begin.

It may seem far away but we’re already in the month of August, so training camp will be here before long and preseason games will get underway. To understand that, you need no more proof than the fact that the Golden Knights have laid down their first ever sheet of ice on their home practice rink – it look’s mint.

Seriously, that looks like some beautiful ice. There’s not a scratch on it, making it look like the perfect conditions for some hockey. No water from the Zamboni, no scratches from people skating on it, we’re still just waiting to hear the verdict of the ice conditions midway through their first season.

Players don’t have much good to say about ice conditions in any rink in the NHL, but it has to be a little more difficult to keep consistent out there in the desert.

Either way, it will be exciting to see what the new team can bring to the new ice this season. They’ve had their development camps, but it’ll be a totally different squad out there when we see them on their home ice for the first time. It's only their practice ice, but it does give a good estimation at what the team's logo will look like at centre ice this season.
