The Golden State Warriors have responded to Donald Trump’s withdrawal of their all-star's invitation to the White House.

As is tradition with a select group of sports leagues, the championship team is presented with the honour of making the trip to Washington and meeting the president. Things took a turn, though, after Warriors point guard Stephen Curry stated that he would not attend. In response, Trump decided to rescind Curry's invitation.

Athletes angrily responded to the decision, with LeBron James going as far as implying that Trump has ruined the tradtion.

The organization’s public relations team spoke out today with an extremely professional response. Rather than ripping the president, they actually acknowledged that any American has the right to freely express them self.

The organization raises a great point, as an open dialogue could have cleared some air. The silver-lining of the situation is that the team will be dedicating time in February to celebrate team equality- an event that is sure to have its share of protesters.

Hardly any teams have made a trip to the White House under Trump’s presidency yet, so it’ll be interesting to see how he handles protesters in the future. Numerous athletes have already expressed their dismay with the President, and things likely just went from bad to a whole lot worse in that department.
