Matt Duchene was finally traded in a deal that was actually rumoured to have died earlier this week.

Well, now that the deal has been completed, the hockey world doesn’t know what to think. Not only was it a three-way deal (Which is extremely rare in the NHL), but how the deal worked out has some fans scratching their heads.

Now that we know all the details, here they are:

To Ottawa: C Matt Duchene

To Nashville: C Kyle Turris

To Colorado: OTT 1st-round pick, OTT 3rd-round pick, C Shane Bowers, G Andrew Hammond (from Ottawa); NSH 2nd-round pick, D Samuel Girard, LW Vladislav Kamenev (from Nashville).

So, Colorado may have gotten quantity, but it’s likely that they gave up the best player in the deal. Fans are always quick to react, so many are claiming that Colorado lost this trade, but so much of their package will not have a true value until a couple years down the road so it’s hard to tell. That hasn’t stopped fans from sharing their opinions though.
