There are many examples of athletes in different sports with the same name.

Chad Johnson and Ryan Ellis are the first two names that come to mind in terms of athletes that share a name.

Because Ryan Ellis the hockey player and Ryan Ellis the NASCAR driver participate in different sports, it's usually easy to know which one someone is talking about in a conversation or online.

For players with the same name in the same sport, however, it's a little different.

Some hockey fans discovered that the hard way on Thursday when the New York Islanders signed Sebastian Aho.

Don't be alarmed Hurricanes fans, this is not your Sebastian Aho.  The Sebastian Aho the Islanders signed is Swedish, not Finnish, and they drafted him in the fifth round.

Aho is also a defenceman, unlike the Aho on the Hurricanes.

At any rate, the move confused some fans to say the least.

Sebastian Aho is with the Islanders and Sebastian Aho is still on the Hurricanes, got it?

Hopefully commentators do by the time these two meet for the first time on the ice in the NHL as they now play in the same division.
