Moving  from San Diego to Los Angeles had both pros, and cons for Chargers players. The bad is that they were forced to pack their bags and move away from a place they’ve called home for years. The good? LA is filled with sports history and certainly aren’t short of celebrities.

On the first day of team activities, the organization figured it’d be best to recruit a local legend to welcome the sqaud. Who’s a better man for the job than five-time NBA champion and two-time Finals MVP Kobe Bryant? Watch and listen, as players were stunned to see Bryant approach the front of the room.

Incredible.

Many of these players likely idolized the 38-year-old as a kid, so that moment after hearing his name must have been surreal. Some of them shared what the experience was like on Twitter.

Bryant has shown support to other California-based athletes including Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (injury) and San Mateo native Tom Brady (Super Bowl win) this past year, so it’s no surprise that he agreed to make the visit.

Who knows? Maybe one of the players will delivering the same speech to a different group of aspiring athletes when their career is all said and done.
