We all have an athlete that we admire and look up to like a hero, and although some people might find that a little odd, there's nothing wrong with an athlete being your hero.

That being said, athletes will be the first ones to tell you that they're not heroes and the real heroes are those people that put their lives on the line each and every day to protect us and keep us all safe.

With that in mind, whenever members of the military or army are honoured at a sporting event, it's always a really special moment and it's something we love seeing.

Brian Elliott of the Calgary Flames agrees with that fact as evidenced by this incredible new mask he wore for Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation Night against San Jose Wednesday.

What a wonderful tribute to the Canadian Armed Forces.

Calgary ended up winning the game 3-2, but after the game an even more incredible moment occurred as the team met with members of the Canadian Armed Forces and took a group picture on the ice.
