When you think of Mexico and ice hockey, you’re probably left scratching your head. The only link you might brainstorm is that Auston Matthews’ mom was born in the country before immigrating to America with her family, or Raffi Torres, who has Mexican bloodlines thanks to his father being born there.

The Liga Mexicana Elite de Hockey played its inaugural season back in 2010/11. The league is in his eight season and currently has four teams: The Aztec Eagle Warriors, the Mayan Astronomers, the Olmec Stone Heads, and the Teotihuacan Priests.

All fours clubs received a makeover for the 2017/18 campaign by getting new logos and jerseys, which are pretty solid looking.

Each logo and team name has some sort of hieroglyphic that resembles the country and culture of Mexico in some fashion. Have a look for yourself:

These are pretty cool. The league plays all their games in Mexico City, and although the level of competition isn’t the greatest, their jersey game is on point.
