With the continued development of the video game sophistication in today’s world, it seems like the games should get closer and closer to accurately predicting the results of any given season.

It seems closer than ever before, as the first team to make the Stanley Cup Final is someone that almost nobody expected at beginning of the season: The Nashville Predators. As the playoffs came around, many people had started picking the Predators as a dark horse, especially in the advanced-stats community, but NHL 17 was on the bandwagon from Day 1.

If you click here, you’ll see the game’s prediction from the beginning of the season was that the Predators would meet the Montreal Canadiens in the Stanley Cup Final, and win in six games. Their playoff simulation made that same prediction.

Pretty amazing. Obviously, one side of that is very wrong, but if Nashville wins, that will be a pretty bold prediction coming true. Besides, people only remember who wins anyways.

It would have been quite the story to see P.K. Subban take down his former team to win the Stanley Cup, but that story line has still remained alive as people talk about Montreal’s decision to get rid of the dynamic defenceman.

We’ll have to wait and see if the prophecy comes to fruition against either the Senators or the Penguins.

We're headed to the finals!! Smashville... It's #lit ☝🏿️ #standwithus #pkapproved
