Canucks defenceman Chris Tanev already has matched last season’s goal output of two in just five games this season, and he might want to thank Jacob Armdown and Olly Postanin from the On The Bench crew for working on his shot.

The Toronto product is the only player on the Canucks blueline to light the lamp this year. Tanev has stated over the last few off seasons that working on his shot was one of his top priorities. While he’s not much of a clap bomb guy, look out for “The Tan Man” or “Tanny” to be winding up the slapper in the near future to perfect his “clapper from the bluey.” Perhaps “toe-ies” and “snappies” are more suitable for the defenceman’s game, though.

The 28-year-old is known as one of the top contemporary shutdown defenceman in the league for his superb shot suppression skills by keeping the opposition to the outside and limiting high quality chances.

Tanev isn't much of a crease clearer, as he prefers to use his stick and body positioning to limit the opposition, so maybe a lesson in crease clearing was needed. He’s not the most aggressive defender, but after this demonstration, maybe he’ll have a little more bite to his game.

The standard canny from Tanny.
