The Edmonton Oilers are moving on to the second round of the 2017 NHL playoffs.

Oilers fans waited a very long time to return to the postseason after falling short in the Stanley Cup Final back during the 2005-06 season, and their patience finally paid off on Saturday night.

Not only did the Oilers do something special by winning their first playoff series in over a decade, but they became the first Canadian NHL franchise to win a playoff series in nearly two years, with the last one coming back on April 26, 2015 when the Montreal Canadiens eliminated the Ottawa Senators in six games.

For the first time in nearly two years, a Canadian NHL team is moving on to the second round of the playoffs.

A lot of people were worried about the Oilers’ inexperience in the postseason heading into the series, but they came up with some big wins in big moments.

The Oilers will play the Anaheim Ducks in the second round of the playoffs, but fans aren’t worried.
