That is not how the defending Stanley Cup Champions wanted to start the 2017-18 season.

Thursday, the Penguins played their second game of the season versus the Blackhawks in Chicago and things went from bad to worse in a hurry. Despite the Pens falling behind 2-0 early, things remained fairly normal.

 Then the third goal happened.

Then the fourth and fifth goal...

Phil Kessel gave the Penguins hope...

But it was short lived.

Very short lived.

The Penguins would then fall behind 9-1 in the third period. But it was alright, as hockey fans on Twitter were super nice about it.

Honestly, we feel like we really know how Penguins fans felt after watching the Hawks merciless scoring display.

Hey, at least it's only game 2 of 82, right?
