Make it 100 years for the Western Hockey League’s Regina Pats.

The team has hit the one century mark, capturing numerous league championships and four Memorial Cups over that span. The Mem. Cup is also turning 100 this year, so it’s only fitting that the Pats will be hosting the 2018 tournament. There, they will compete against the champions of the WHL, OHL and QMJHL champions. If they win the WHL’s Ed Chynoweth Cup, then the finalist will also compete in the tournament.

In honour of the team’s birthday, the club unveiled an incredible jersey during their home opener at the team’s Brandt Centre against the Brandon Wheat Kings.

That’s got to be one of the nicer uniforms out there, as even the gloves were given an old school feel to them.

Some of the features were magnified by the team, including the patches on the shoulder and arm. If you take a closer look, you can also see four crowns along the side of the jersey which represent the one found on the city’s flag.

It’s tradition for teams to rock a vintage sweater during the tournament, so hopefully these will be worn at least once. Action will take place from May 18-27, so keep an eye out for these in the future.
