Dirk Nowitzki might be one of the quietest superstars in all of sports. Year after year he puts up consistent numbers and has accomplished some pretty incredible feats since he made his debut with the Dallas Mavericks during the 1998-99 season.

A 13-time NBA All-Star, Nowitzki helped change the game for big men, even if he won’t ever admit it. He showed the league that the big guys can do more than just be a physical presence and grab rebounds, he showed they can be a threat from long distance, too.

On Tuesday night, the 38-year-old accomplished something very rare that has only been accomplished by five other players in the history of the league, and that’s score 30,000 career points.

Nowitzki joins Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain as the only players in NBA history to score 30,000 or more career points.

Congratulations, Disco Dirk!
