The trade deadline is all about the top teams acquiring players that will help them win a Stanley Cup and the teams near the bottom of the standings selling said players.

Before this year's deadline, the Ducks got Patrick Eaves from the Stars in exchange for a conditional second round pick in the 2017 draft.

Eaves has had a nice impact for the Ducks so far this postseason with four points in seven games, but the most important of that trade is the conditional pick.

While hockey teams probably don't cheer for one another all that often, the Stars were certainly cheering for the Ducks to win Game 7 Wednesday night, which they did.

There's a very good reason why the Stars wanted the Ducks to win, and no, it's not because they don't like the Oilers.

The reason they wanted Anaheim to win has everything to do with that conditional pick, which now is a first round pick.

Fans probably noticed the Stars were pretty excited on Twitter during Game 7 and that right there is why.

So, everybody won Wednesday night, except for the Oilers, sadly.
