NHL All-Star weekend is officially here, and for fans and players alike, for one weekend everyone can just relax, kick back and have enjoy watching hockey without there being anything on the line.

Obviously not everyone is a fan of All-Star weekend and the festivities that take place, but we enjoy it because we see the personality of the players come out a little more.

We also enjoy the special jerseys that are made specifically for the event every year, and the sweaters for the game in Los Angeles this weekend are pretty slick.

That being said, we want to see what they look like in action before we consider adding them to our top ten list of the best All-Star game jerseys of all-time.

10. 2000 Team World Jerseys

These jerseys debuted in Toronto for the 2000 All-Star Game and were reused in Denver the next year. It was the third year that Team North America took on Team World, with Team World taking the game by a score of 9-4.

Pavel Bure took home MVP honours scoring three goals and notching one assist.

9. 1986 Campbell versus Wales

The 1986 game was contested by a team from the Campbell Conference and a team from the Wales Conference at the Hartford Civic Center. Ex-Whaler Gordie Howe and NHL legend Phil Esposito (pictured above) were the honorary captains for this game.

Mr. Hockey would be the one smiling at the end of the contest as the Wales Conference pulled out the 4-3 win in overtime.

8. 1980 Campbell versus Wales

Mr. Hockey played his last official NHL All-Star Game in 1980 at the newly-erected Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich. That was the same year that a young man by the name of Wayne Gretzky made his All-Star Game debut.

Neither scored a goal, but Gordie Howe did get an assist on the Wales Conference's sixth tally of the game in a 6-3 win.

7. 2004 East versus West

The 2004 game was played at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., and the Wild influence can be seen in the jerseys. The Western Conference wore an all green jersey with cream accents while the Eastern Conference wore cream jerseys with red highlights.

They successfully incorporated the new-school Wild look, while keeping the old-school sweater feel. The East won the game 6-4.

6. 2011 Team Staal

The most modern jersey on our list comes from the 2011 game in Raleigh, NC., where Team Staal took on Team Lidstrom in an 11-10 nail biter that went to the Swedish defenseman's team.

Maybe the most memorable part of this game came from the draft where Mr. Phil Kessel was the last overall pick. Team Staal's jerseys were mint, highlighted by the white gloves with the red trim.

5. 1993 Campbell Conference

Brett Hull and the Campbell Conference looked sharp in these black jerseys, a slightly redesigned version of the 1989-91 editions.

While they may have looked good, they got pumped by a score of 16-6 in the last ever All-Star Game played at the iconic Montreal Forum.

4. 1996 East versus West

The sweaters worn in the 1996 game were the same ones worn in 1994 and 1995. They were clearly a hit because they inspired the Dallas Stars alternate jersey that was worn from 1997-99, and their home and away jerseys for a few years after that.

The game was played at the Fleet Center in Boston, Mass., and Bruins defenseman Ray Bourque scored the game winner, in a 5-4 contest, with 37.3 seconds left.

3. 1992 Campbell versus Wales

The 1992 All-Star Game, held at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, Penn., was exciting for a couple of reasons. It celebrated the 75th anniversary of the NHL and it was also the first year that the ‘Fastest Skater' competition was held.

Sergei Federov of Team Campbell won the inaugural event with a time of 14.363 seconds and the two teams wore throwback jerseys that were replicas of the original All-Star Game from 1947. The refs getup was awesome as well.

2. 2007 Eastern Conference

Coming in at number two on the list are the Eastern Conference jerseys from 2007. They look very similar to the jerseys used in 2011 but have a slightly different crest and more white on the pants.

The addition of the stars all the way up the side of the jersey is also a nice touch. The jerseys didn't help the East on the scoreboard as they dropped the game 12-9, but man did they look sleek.

1. 1988 Campbell Conference

Our favourite jersey in All-Star Game history was the one worn by Wayne Gretzky and the Campbell Conference in the 1988 All-Star Game. They are very similar to many of the other jerseys worn in that era, but were the last edition to hang on to the thick orange accents on the sleeves and socks.

The Campbell Conference may have lost the game 6-5, but anything worn by The Great One looks much nicer than everything else.
