When the New York Knicks took Kristaps Porzingis 4th overall in the 2015 NBA Draft, Knicks fans were shocked. They bashed the 7-foot-3 Latvian big man almost immediately, and some were even spotted shedding tears after the official selection was made.

However, it didn’t take him very long to win Knicks fans and NBA fans over during his rookie campaign, as his jersey ended up selling out online in the first month of the regular season. Now, Porzingis has pretty much become the face of the franchise behind Carmelo Anthony, and his popularity is only going to increase.

If you think they’re crazy about him in New York, you should see how much they admire him back home in Latvia. The 21-year-old was recently named the 2016 Latvian Athlete of the Year and the award was accepted by some of his family members. After they received the award, they put on a show for the audience and performed a song that was specifically made as a tribute to the NBA star.

We’re going to guess this isn’t a very popular or well-known song throughout Latvia at the moment, considering some of the audience members look like they have no idea what’s going on and are trying their best to hold back from laughing. However, by the end they of the tune they were all into it and were clapping along.
