It was a tough go for Montreal Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty and San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns during the first round of the 2017 NHL playoffs. Both are used to scoring, as ‘Patches’ led his team with 35 goals, while Burns led all defensemen with 29 of his own. The playoffs told a bit of a different story for these two all-stars, though.

Both players were held scoreless through their first round series, despite peppering their respective opposing goaltenders with shot after shot.

There’s still time for Shattenkirk, Nugent-Hopkins and Karlsson to find the back of the net, but unfortunately it’s a little too late for the others.

This frustrating stat will likely haunt both of them throughout the summer.
