Much like football, Formula One racing is a game of inches.

As drivers compete to get the fastest lap time, the difference between taking a corner perfectly and wildly spinning out can literally be one inch. Take the 'swimming pool' turn at the Monaco Grand Prix for example. Saturday, Ferrari driver Kimi Räikkönen managed to complete a record setting lap in qualifying that featured perfectly taken corners that left fans stunned. Just take a look at how close Räikkönen got to the barrier traveling at approximately 140 KPH.

Alternatively, McLaren driver Stoffel Vandoorne just scrapped the barrier during Q3, breaking the car's suspension and putting an end to his qualifying round.

Pretty insane how much of a difference an inch of space can make in the outcome of a turn. Although Räikkönen was able to put in a ridiculously fast time to take pole position at Monaco, the Finnish driver was unable to stay in first on Sunday, losing to fellow Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel.
